NIXON IS A NEWLY-LAUNCHED SERVICE SPECIALIZING IN MALE MODELS 18-24. Our mission is to provide THE MODEL EXPERIENCE helping ASPIRING MODELS prepare for careers with modeling agencies in the major markets. NIXON is a boutique photo studio providing an experience. We are not a modeling agency. THE STUDIO IS LOCATED IN THE INNOVATION DISTRICT OF HOLYOKE. WE ARE LESS THAN 3 HOURS FROM NYC.
Aspiring local models living in a non-major, small market are often stuck in the amateUr market, forever building their book without direction. Either paying or being paid to test with photographers who may not understand THE modeling industry's needs, in terms of digitals (submission pictures for modeling).
THE NIXON goal is to assist in placing aspiring, local models into the larger, major market of New York CITY. Once aN ASPRING model belongs to any of the top 10 modeling agencies in nEW YORK CITY, IT BECOMES EASIER TO BE LAUNCHED INTO THE INTERNATIONAL MARKET. THE INTER NATIONAL MARKET CONSISTS OF LOCATIONS SUCH AS London, Paris, Milan, Spain, Germany, Greece, Tokyo, Korea, Signapore, and Taipei.
NIXON IS able to invest in only the most promising new faces. Modeling is really more than looks. Generally, you should have some artistic or athletic talent to add to your physical beauty.
NIXON cannot garantee a modeling agency will like your look. However, you will be armed with the correct submission images to get their attention to the best of your ability. You will be submitted to those agencies and bookers having the highest chances of liking your look. And you will be armed with the information you need to make any next steps to move forward in your search for modeling work.
EDITORIAL VS COMMERCIAL
I want you to realize editorial (fashion modeling) is not suitable for everyone. YOU will be submitting your images to commercial modeling agencies, as well as fashion model agencies or those agencies that tend to go for your look.
Fashion model agencies have varying requirements based on the type of fashion work you might do. Height standards for male models are generally between 5’ 11" - 6’ 2", but that is usually applied to men working as fashion (editorial) and runway models. Now more than ever, the modeling industry is embracing the things that make models unique. Features that stand out are considered advantages, rather than flaws.
I am primarily focused on aspiring male models who have a unique look. This can be an unusual hair texture, skin tone or lean body proportions found in track runners, and found in many types of dancers. I am also interested in traditional (female) models possessing looks that are not often seen. Being unique is very important because whether male or female you are coming from A small, LOCAL market, transitioning into a larger, much more competitive sphere. You will find that what is considered attractive in your local area, may not stand out much on the international stage. However, agencies will review you as a complete package, not just your features and porportions alone.
I want you to keep commercial modeling in mind. When most people think of models and the modeling profession they think of fashion models. However, there is a very lucrative side of modeling that many people overlook, and that is the commercial modeling industry. Commercial models are essentially models that look like everyday people and are modeling or advertising products such as food and household items, pharmaceuticals, travel destinations, sporting equipment and more.
Though fashion modeling offers prestige, commercial modeling is going to offer a greater financial return. Commercial modeling does not require you to have a unique look or be a certain hieght, but you should usually have clear skin, a healthy glow, and it is very helpful if you have done some basic acting. Keep this in mind.
